Trudi Maish is a retired professional photographer who owned
a studio in Louisville for many years. She now lives in Bardstown
and has turned her artistic eye to taking photographs that show
the wonders of God’s creation.
A Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Associate, Trudi and is well-known
for capturing the unparalleled beauty of the Nazareth campus in
Nelson County, Kentucky. Over the years, she has captured the
changing of the seasons on campus from spectacular sunsets, to the
campus enshrouded in fog, to deer gathered among the tombstones
in the cemetery. An accomplished photographer, her photos offer
a glimpse of the peace and beauty that is Nazareth.
This untitled photograph showcases one of the Bluegrass State’s
most celebrated migratory species: the monarch butterfly. Traveling
thousands of miles from the U.S. and Canada to central Mexican
forests, monarch butterflies exhibit the most highly evolved migration
pattern of any known species of butterfly or moth and perhaps
any known insect.
