Sr. Claire McGowan has been honored as a trailblazing Kentucky women at Louisville’s 23rd Festival of Faiths. This year’s theme was “Sacred Insight Feminine Wisdom.” Sr. Claire is one of eight women awarded who provide leadership in their communities through the lens of health. The award highlights her founding of New Pioneers for a Sustainable Future nearly 13 years ago. It also acknowledges her more recent work, continuing a conversation around the topic of land and how we hold it sacred.

Besides the flowers and Kentucky original gift she received as part of the recognition, Sr. Claire is also among the women featured in the publication ‘Kentucky Voices, Feminine Wisdom.’ As part of the Festival’s program, Claire and co-member of the Sisters of Loretto, Susan Classen, facilitated a conversation around the video, Sacred Land, featuring the lands of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, the Sisters of Charity and the Sisters of Loretto.
